Wilmington, NC— 5/1/2024 — Tinsley Surgical, PA announces association with David H. Deaton, MD, FSVS, a nationally known academic vascular surgeon and medical device inventor.

Proven Track Record
Dr. Deaton, a native of Hickory NC, graduated from Haverford College and received his medical degree from Duke University. He went on to the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania for surgical residency and research fellowship followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at UCLA. He joined the faculty of East Carolina University in and performed the first endovascular aortic aneurysm repair and the first endovascular thoracic aortic aneurysm repair in North Carolina during his tenure there. After leaving ECU he joined the faculty of Georgetown University in Washington DC where he founded the endovascular program there as well as the vascular lab and clinical research program. He also served as a staff surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in a part-time role when he was also serving as the Chief Medical Officer of Endologix, Inc.
In addition to his clinical career, Dr. Deaton has served as an officer of numerous medical societies to include the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, the Society of Vascular Surgery and the Chesapeake Vascular Society. He has pioneered multiple endovascular aortic and lower extremity revascularization procedures and devices as an investigator and a named inventor on 15 patents.
Dr. Deaton has served as a primary clinical expert for FDA panels, CMS reimbursement panels and ICD coding hearings. He has been an invited speaker in over 190 conferences throughout the US, Europe and Asia and has authored numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed publications. He has been a featured expert on the CNN network and other media outlets during both his tenure at ECU and while at Georgetown University.
Dr. Deaton’s clinical interests span the breadth of vascular diagnoses using both open surgical reconstructive techniques and minimally invasive endovascular therapies.
